Sasol launches text notification system for construction-related updates

WESTLAKE--Sasol announced the launch of SasolTEXT, a web-based text messaging system, developed to provide real-time construction-related updates to the local community.

SasolTEXT allows residents to sign up to receive notifications about road reroutes, lane closures, heavy equipment and module transports related to construction of Sasol’s world-scale ethane cracker project in Westlake, Louisiana. Additionally, notifications will be published online at www.sasolnorthamerica.com/Construction.

"We are working closely with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and local emergency responders, police and fire chiefs to ensure our efforts are both safe and efficient,” Mike Hayes, manager of public affairs, said. "We encourage residents to sign up for these notifications. Be safe by being informed.”

Off-site construction efforts currently underway include preparing for roadway improvements along the project heavy haul route, which Sasol and its contractors will use to transport large modules and other heavy equipment from a construction dock off of Sulphur Avenue to Sasol’s project site.

Sasol will widen and strengthen the existing roads on the route to accommodate the modules and equipment. Utilities, signage and traffic signals have been relocated where necessary, and road preparations are expected to begin soon.
