Lake Charles, LA–Sasol North America recently received GOLD Achievement as a Fit-Friendly Workplace for 2013 by the American Heart Association. Sasol was awarded this distinction consecutively for two years since 2012 and believes in providing programs that encourage employees and their families to live healthy lifestyles.
The American Heart Association implemented the Fit-Friendly Worksites Recognition Program to increase physical activity in the workplace and to promote a culture of activity. With more than 400 employees at the Lake Charles Chemical Complex, Sasol has shown alignment with the American Heart Association’s initiatives by establishing a walking trail, training annually on ergonomics, gym membership reimbursements and encouraging employees and their families to participate in community activities such as walkathons, bicycling and sports challenges. Sasol also distributes a health-related newsletter, which promotes employee wellness challenges and health specific meetings at the complex.
"Our employees are our most valuable assets and we believe in promoting their health and well-being,” said Mike Thomas, Vice President, Sasol US Operations.
